The spearhead is broad and leaf-shaped with deep fluting running along its length, finished in a bright polished steel that catches the light along every groove. This shape echoes the historical pilum head, designed to punch through an opponent’s shield and, ideally, through whatever was standing behind it. It’s mounted securely onto a long, sturdy wood shaft using a riveted socket connection, the same basic principle Roman armorers relied on centuries ago.

The shaft itself is wrapped in leather along a significant portion of its length, both for a secure, non-slip grip and for genuine historical accuracy — Roman pila were frequently leather-wrapped for exactly this reason. A polished steel cap finishes the opposite end of the shaft, balancing the weapon’s weight and protecting the wood from wear.
